what would be the difference

Surely it’s just a rigid 29r?
-
• #12604
Rigid early 00’s 29ers giving the tiny tyres clearance.

but more of a glorified hybrid than a flat bar nogravel.
Aren't all flat bar cross/grab hybrids anyway

In all fairness, Specialized did go back to the root of 90’s 700c flat bar off road bike like this;

Has anyone got a carbon fork to sell?
Flat or post, 12mm, fender mounts and front crown drilled -

You want to put a rack on the exploro?

That would be rad actually but no, just dynamo light and guards on my commuter.

Is there truly a bike out there that fits this bill?
- Use for commuting – Mudguards and road tyres (32mm or so)
- Use for winter training – relatively racey geo
- Use for offroad/cross – mudguards off and knobbly 33's on and disc brakes
- Alloy but stiff
I have a 2015 arkose and it's just not particularly springer or responsive even with road tyres and an OK wheelset.

every gravel bike out there

Mason Bokeh? Tad more expensive than an Arkose though...

Trek Crockett does all of these things

In my limited experience it’s hard to find something that does all of this well. My cdf is great for commuting, winter training, occasional gravel/towpaths etc. But it was horrible for cross. I used it for a couple of seasons and it was perfectly serviceable but (a) repeatedly fitting/removing mudguard/racks was a PITA and (b) my cross bike is vastly more fun for racing or longer off road adventures.
I wanted one bike to do everything but multiple bikes are better :-)

the bokeh really isn't a racey frame

I agree. Great cross racing bike, but rides really well on the road too.

Condor Bivio
Standert Pfadfinder
Mason DefinitionI'm sure there's more out there. Early "gravel" frames took around 35mm tyres max but over time they've been competing for who can fit the fattest tyres and now most frames seem to be up to 28 tyres or like 40/45mm tyres.

Trek Checkpoint carbon?

Pfadfinder pre-sale is this weekend @GrimpeurG but it's a bit spenny. I'm getting one though, having asked almost the same question a couple of weeks ago. I was pretty set on the Standert to start with but having shopped around it does seem to be about the roadiest gravel bike out there, if that's what you want.
