This view will become more and more difficult to stand by when the world is fully electric/hydrogen and the only cars spitting out fumes are 'classics' owned by the rich?
-
• #57353
Where electric conversions probably make more sense is something cool that's not going to fall into classic car exemptions - like a convertible E30.
'classics' owned by the rich
Obviously you're unlikely to be on the breadline with a classic car (or any car for that matter), but I think there are plenty of inexpensive enthusiast classics you could own and maintain for under £10k. Also I think leasing an electric Zafira is going to be a lot more achievable than repairing and converting some random car.

That is a very blinkered view.

I'm not sure... A car built 50 years ago, still driving and easy to fix makes sense compared to something that weighs 2 tones and has a lifecycle of 10 years.
*Sound of can of worms opening

In an ideal world modern electrics should have excellent life cycles as there is less wear. This combined with a huge increase in cost from moving disposal costs back to manufacturers, which is then passed onto the consumer, should incentives longer lasting products capable of maintainance and repair.

Or they'll just be the same as current cars built to match the finance packages their sold with.

Great car but that guy is fucking annoying.

What. A. Specimen.

You need to call up the fault memory
OBD reader job, or do I need something else?
-
• #57362
What's wrong and/or missing from this?

No cruise control?

Ah, good spot.

It's only 4 miles away, I might ride over on the Pace and have a go at getting it in the back with both wheels on.
Also feels a bit weird that of the C55 AMG, Porsche 911 and VW van it's the latter that would be (by some margin) the most expensive.
-
• #57366
It is considerably newer...Presumably it's done a big chunk of depreciation in that first year and it will hold it's value well now though...?
-
• #57367
They do hold their value.
Although I wonder if it's worth double checking the strength of various versions as this is a shuttle/people carrier?
-
• #57368
The shuttle is ~ £25,000 less than the equivalent Caravelle

Sounds perfectly logical. /s

Could be one of these cars:
http://www.kenw.me.uk/MS_DS21.htm
My thoughts:
1) it’s a carburettor engine not an injection electronique
2) probably a load more rust to sort out
3) Hanook tyres have the wrong tread
4) rear exhaust not secured properly
5)what on earth did the owner spend £25k on?
6) probably a money pit ( most ds’ are though
But... if you can get it cheap enough...? -

Reprogram worked :)
At one stage I was looking at a whole new head unit 😬

If you are doing the labour, a time pit ;)

Bit lacking in details, but it should allegedly be available by the end of the year.

I get that.
Personally I like the idea of oem+ when it comes to modding cars.
But then there are some cars that are so ubiquitous it doesn't feel like it matters and then there are others (MGs and Minis spring to mind) where modding and engine swaps are almost integral to the cars image.
