Cool story etc.

I think it would have looked great clearcoated with the remains of the original paint left, saying that though the new paint looks great too.

Cheers TM, clearcoating the remains would be really cool.

Lovely thread, lovely pictures!!
Ryan has done a lovely job, those bilaminate lugs look perfect coupled with the tiny headtube.
I never fully understood the function of bilaminating... Any reason this was the prefered option here? (apart from the fact it looks good?)

I remember seeing the low-pro in various states when I was popping in to see Ryan, looks great finished.

I dont know what bilaminating means either....I guess its a style of lugs?
Are you working on a project yourself Dammit? ;)

Aww bollocks, didn't realise that they were in the same league as the vittoria Corsa CX which are also gumwalls, also look rad and also no longer made.... :(
Looks like Veloflex Record/Master are the only alternative

I remember Ryan was excited about that frame as he took a bit of pride repairing it, he was saying he wanted to give this bilaminating lark a try on the crash damaged frame, and turn out to be great.
Great choice, considering how much more expensive bilaminating tend to be.

Was the crash before a circle jerks ride? I remember Theo "de pretzeling" it by standing on it... Good memories

^Yea it was....I think many had a go stamping on the bent wheel. Manage t get it straight enough so it wasn't rubbing the forks. Glad to finish the ride after :) Happy times!

It really is great to see this bike again. Well done for restoring it, and pimping it, looks great. I rode this in the British University sports Association Championships 10 mile time trial in 1995, I think I came 24th. Michael Hutchinson won. I remember being sick over the crossbar halfway round. I also broke a course record at Wisbech wheelers on it. I only rode it twice. I was sponsored by Mark Zaschke at the time. Adam Giles

^Clearcoated in that state or completely sand blasted with no old paint? Either way it would've been good...thinking of it now, I should have left it raw finish.
The fork survived because I hit a soft construction fence thingy....so it absorbed the impact but not the frame. The front wheel also took alot of the damage. I was out for like a minute :(
