Oh, they make chains for other names?
Yes, both repackaged standard KMC models for store-brand (Decathlon etc.) and specific proprietary designs for other brands (Shimano definitely, I've heard Campag too) as a contract manufacturer.
To clarify - I’ve been sold a KMC 11 speed chain and it’s turned up in an m-part (or something) box with ‘kmc written on it in biro. The chain inside doesn’t have KMC stamped on it.
M-Part is Madison's store-brand, if they have their name on chain boxes then the actual chain will be from KMC (most likely), YBN or some other contract manufacturer even lower down the food chain. What does it have stamped on it? There might be distinctive markings, features or lettering which will confirm or exclude KMC manufacture.

It was M-Wave, not M-Part. Just says ‘11s’ on both sides and nothing else.
I mean, it’s a cheap chain and it’s the correct type, so it’s fine I guess. I think I would have just shrugged it off by now if it wasn’t the ‘KMC’ written in biro on the box that made me wonder if it was just a rebranded KMC chain.

Just wanted to double check before I whinge to the seller about being sent something different.
