That car looks in better condition than any car I had, and I haven't had one since early 2000s.
I suspect it contains very little of the metal that it left the factory with.

Quite possibly true. IIRC Rimmer Bros got a huge stash of NOS SD1 panels from India a while back, so it's possible to make a rotten one nice again with factory tin.

I suspect you may be right, but then why would someone spend that kind on money on and SD1.
Then again some didn't rust. Some were just shit, had one that the spot welds of the rear panhard rod mount were never fully formed and missed by many MOT testers so concluded why that sd1 was bad handling. But then it did have over 40 previous owners...

The Rover 3500 vanden plas efi, both absolute shite and brilliant car. The vitesse was less shite due to the aweful vanden plas 'extra plush plastic wood that cracked due to heat in the car. Have even owned a real twin plenum.... That is a whole other anecdote.
