Which Tyres?

Not tried myself but pirelli cinatuto m comes in 650 X 45

Can highly recommend Pirelli Cinturatos, mine have just given up the ghost after a year of commuting, Saturday group rides, and a couple of weekends away rides. Probably done about 6000ish miles.
Keep looking at summat else to replace them with, but will probably get another pair. Got Paselas on at the moment, as I had them in the shed.

Sorry, should have mentioned I need clinchers! Are the Pirellis tubeless?

been riding bontrager tyres on my road bikes for years now, their puncture resistant AW hardcase tyres, and have has so few punctures i'd highly recommend them. good grip and longevity

Just looking at some byway for some off-road bikepacking and there’s loads of tan walls around but not many all black. Is there a reason for that?

I've struggled with that trying to find 650bs. Tanwalls look shit with my gold frame!

If I buy tyres on Wiggle or somewhere like that, can I return them if they end up not fitting?

Yes wrong size, my clearances are pretty borderline. I’ve been mocking some existing tyres onto a new build. 27mm Open Pave fit comfortably, 28mm Michelin’s jam the frame solid.

While I’m here - I’m feeling the tan walls (not these actual tyres), I think the black walls / black rims are a bit heavy visually.

It looks like I won't be able to squeeze on my 28c Corsa's (approx. 29mm) onto my new frame so I'm in the market for some fast rolling durable 25c tan walls. It's unlikely I'll be riding them much in very wet/bad weather but I would like to be able to use them through the winter on clear days.

In order or price I have

Schwalbe one - £30
Pirelli P-Zero - £44
Turbo Cottons 26c - £52

Any comments on sizing (blow up big/small) and which would be the most durable? I like the darker tan wall on the P-zero's but I'm worried they may be a little fragile. The turbo cottons are the prettiest but pretty spendy and not really an all year round tyre from what I can see. I have some GP4000's I'll try later to see how big I can go in 25c (mine measure around 27mm).

I might keep Veloflex masters as a wild card but my last pair gave me too many punctures and keeping the sidewalls clean was a bugger.

I've got the Schwalbe Ones on at the moment - they're pretty good. I believe they have replaced the old Durano in the Schwalbe line up so they're definitely more of a mid tier tyre with a bit more puncture protection. Mine weigh about 270g each so a bit heavier than the other options, but a bit more durable. I'm happy running them through the winter and I'll stick on some Veloflex Corsa Evos in summer.

They also don't blow up particularly huge which is important to you. Think they're about 27mm on my 21mm internal rims. Pirellis will definitely blow up larger than that.

Merlin were clearing out the Schwalbes at £20, which is a pretty good deal if they’re still doing them. Haven’t ridden yet as I’m still working through my Veloflex.

Didn’t know P Zeros came in tan, nice spot. If they’re the same as the ‘Race’ version reviewed on bicyclerollingresistance they’ll be similar in performance to the Schwalbe/Veloflexes, but with superior sidewall protection.

Based on that review, they look to be the best protected tan-wall road tyre on the market...

EDIT: or if they’re the same as the original Velos (no suffix), they’ll be about the same as the Ones/Veloflex in sidewall protection.

Can't say about pirellis but turbo cottons are really thin. I have the older One and it's lasting a lot better than GP5000s for about the same performance. The new version is supposed to be less premium, but you can find it under £20 if you shop around

Cheers all, 25c GP4000's will fit so that should make the Schwalbe One's doable. Bit of a minefield with all the different options out there but I believe it's these I'm after.

Sadly no tan walls and not sure any of those are the model i'm after but cheers.

So many different models and weight variations i may just go for Corsa's.

i prefer the black version, it works better with 7900
