  • what should I do here? this gas fireplace has been out of action for years. disconnected it, thrown the coals away. the surround is disintegrating. should I look to repair it? Line the flue and get a wood burner stove? go electric? set fire to the pinecones?

    Any thoughts appreciated!

  • You can almost certainly get all the replacement bits from Stovax or another maker.
Or you can get a Hotbox and replace all the stuff behind the cast iron with that, as they are more efficient.

  • Looks nice to me. I'd just repair it and use it.

Our sitting room doesn't have central heating, just a gas fire tbh I quite like it.
