It is part of Sustrans Route 6 iirc.
The Salford section was and remains sketchy. I used to ride most of way to Bury* along it when I worked up there, they were supposed to be replacing the mud with a more year round rideable surface I thought?
'* occasionally, Bury New Rd was a much quicker route
mancs:
I've recently discovered the Irwell trail running up from town northwards, but when I've followed it it seems really disconnected. In parts I've had to wind my way through estates in Salford – mainly on the big loops. it's also really hard to actually pick up and signposting is basically non-existent.
near me, I've managed to ride from philips par in prestwich/whitefield to clifton country park, but even there the path is sketch af in some parts, and in one section there's a huge metal barrier requiring you to lift the entire bike over.
googling doesn't reveal much of an official guide, so does anyone know who manages it, what the plans are for it, etc.?
