  • I'd be wary of rust, it seems like the mk3 was more susceptible than the Mk2. It probably wont feel that special to drive in the end either as it's not that old.

I'd do it if the miles were low and it was a 3 door in a nice colour.

  • Car will be in France and I won't be apart from 'holidays' If it were a MK1 or even a two maybe depending on the work needed, especially if just recommissioning work, brakes bearings and rubber bits.

  • Not quite. Up to 7.5T and not towing, it's 50 on single carriageways, 60 on dual carriageways, 70 on motorways.

  • Or 97 and bouncing off the limiter, which is the normal method of speed control for a van.

  • But if at a minimum you're going to change the seats, reupholster the interior, install new sound system, lighting and add a custom fabricated bike mounts, surely it's not much more effort to have sound deadening + insulation done at the same time?

Quite like watching these guys videos

  • Depends on how the 'van' is registered.

Also certain companies had the van top speed set by the ECU too. Also if the 'van' is over certain number of seat it is classed as a minibus.

    More details here: https://vantuner.co.uk/limiter-removal/

  • Buy a cab and chassis and make the body then.

Hence the best mobile home conversions are from mobile libraries.

  • Still. Nothing sweeter than dropping vanman with some horses off the junction. (I don't have any)

  • Possible repost, but just found this in the archives from when I did some work at PSA HQ in Coventry in 2013 and they had this beast on display in the foyer.

  • That's awesome.

    What's the base car?

I didn't realise there was a coupe from that era.

  • It was the Peugeot 405 T16 , which was basically the 205 T16 with a new body plonked on top. Peugeot had just launched the 405 and needed something sporty to sell it with.

  • Well I guess you have never seen climb dance?

Probably the best motor sport video of all time.

  • I'm not sure it's ever been bettered. Pure magic.

  • Love that, balls of steel and stylish. Huge drops offs, full chat driving one handed, opposite lock into the blinding sun using his other hand as a sun visor, what a fucking Don.

One of the most comedy rear spoilers I've ever seen too.

Proper eclectic mix of wheels spotted around Streatham. First up I'm now seeing different models of Ford Galaxie's everywhere, and this one looks like its just driven straight off the set of Miami Vice. Peppermint green with a dark green vinyl roof sounds bloody ridiculous, but its kind of pulling it off. Also more rear light porn, all old Galaxie's I've seen have super cool rear lights. Love the wheels too.

I've never seen one of these before, old school British camper, a Morris A60 with a pop up roof. Love the two tone colour scheme and the kink in the chrome down the side, also featuring eyelids and rust.

And finally a 1930's Fiat 508S on the back of a truck. Gutted I couldn't get a pic from the front, but the truck is an Alfa Romeo! I looked it up afterwards and its a Alfa Romeo A12. Alfa rescue trucks seemed a brave choice, I assume they made an A13 model for towing the A12 when that broke down.

  • The steering feels like it’s connected with rubber bands that pull it back to the centre

Yeah like bumper cars at an amusement park

  • I filled up with Shell VPower 100 as we left Morgins, CHF 1.63/litre.

Drove to Karlsruhe, long sections of 110/120km/h, some traffic jams, some minor roads to get round the worst of the traffic jams, 29mpg.

Finally some open Autobahn and (to stop the bikes flying off the roof) some cruising at 155km/h saw that drop to 27mpg.

On UK 97/98 I’d have expected 23 dropping to 20, so the higher octane fuel was definitely worth it, if only for the much improved range.

  • Had to goggle that one, 5 minutes well spent.

Reminded me of this, whilst not in the same league in many ways, the sound however is pure sex...

  • Nice! Used to work in a building whose owner also owned Lola Cars and they had this inside:

  • Isn't it (wasn't it Talbot ;))

EDIT: They change the cars from time to time as I remember a talbot samba group b car being there.

  • Know that Pug Coventry had one of the Paris Dakar 405 cars in the foyer a few years ago.

  • Were Lola South London?

  • Lola cars always reminds me of the kinks song.

  • The owner also owned the Hop Exchange in Southwark, they've got a Lola Group office there, don't think anything car-related occurred there though.

  • Keep an eye out for the Shuttle SE. Comes well specced with roof heating and a blower in the back. Could be specced with caravelle seat like this one was:
    https://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/threads/sold-2011-vw-t5-1-day-van-disabled-shuttle-se-lwb-reduced.1791010/

Went for a bit of a bargain as easy to remove the lift.

  • New supra at work tonight shite photo but I was running late. Shark nose for the win.
