The champagne was because he knew we got married but i think it was a bit keen given that he doesnt have a mortgage offer yet

I think that's just a lovely gesture. I wouldn't read anything into it other than they're a nice person.

Has anyone on here got any experience on shared ownership? it definitely has its catches by the looks of things but also seems to be the most viable way of getting on the ladder in some way at the moment for us

Pfffft it’s a bad idea but it worked out ok for me - through luck rather than judgement.

Our offer was accepted and the seller seems like a champ being so flexible, being chain free helped I imagine. Current mood is trying not to get excited or emotionally invested until I'm swanning around the house in my dressing gown.
