That's reasonable! For work I drive a few 10 year old VW Crafters and they're actually surprisingly comfortable, I can sit in one all day and not really mind, I'm sure a more modern one with all the mod cons would be a fairly pleasant place to be. The added benefit of a "proper" van with a divider between the passenger area and the luggage/bike area would be improved security. Chuck a decent dead lock or two on the back doors and you don't have to worry about someone breaking a window and being able to take off with all of your bikes.

A LWB T5/6 Kombi looks good, but they’re strong money and limited to 60. I wonder if there is such a thing as a LWB Caravelle? The reason I like the look of the Caravelle is that they are usually specified like a car, so aircon, cruise etc.
