  • :D I also wish it was a bit smaller although 40mm might be good as it doesn’t look too thick.

  • I’m clearly biased on this, but I don’t mind the ceramic bezel on the sub as it’s more resilient, fewer scratches for longer. What I am not a fan of is how muted the ceramic makes the GMT colours

  • Was thinking the same about those stars. Suppose they thought they had to make their field watch look a bit different. Making me think I should have got that citizen Ray Mears when it was on sale now ...

  • Fair it doesn’t scratch but you can crack it if you knock it on something and are unlucky. Also you don’t get the faded patina if you’re into that kind of thing of course...

  • Suppose they thought they had to make their field watch look a bit different.

Its a Longines tradition to use 5 stars to signify a watch with a COSC certified movement. Not done on all of their high end movements but they have been doing it on and off for decades I think. There's a theory that the 5 star logo is particularly popular in the Chinese market.

    Here's a Longines Admiral from the 70s

  • Just to add, I think think the 5 stars represents the number of positions that the watch has to be tested in to receive COSC certification.

  • I did wonder if it was a nod to some heritage thing.

  • I quite like it tbh, although totally get its a matter of personal preference.

Anyway, what do I know about watches? Since getting that Steel Gshock I have literally not opened my watch box since. As @Velocio said, its hard to wear anything else once you've given it a go! Such a perfect watch. The fact I like it so much says a lot for the comfort and practicality of the watches I don't wear anymore.

  • Interesting, thanks for the info. No surprise the commies love it!

  • The stars are terrible.

  • Wouldn't be a Longines if they hadn't vandalised an otherwise acceptable design in some way.

I like the 'props' on the Chrono though.

  • Same, I've just been wearing my protrek permanently now.

Comfy, big display, has a date and all the other features I need, fine with repeated handwashing.

  • Black date window?

  • Dibs your DigiTuna when you clear out your watch box

  • Sorry mate, sold six watches in the last year or so and the Digi made the cut :D

  • Black date window?

Yeah I mean it's the classic shove a date window in there like some sort of of wound thing. Don't mind the black particularly, not a problem on the two seikos I own with it.

I just like the hands and the cowl effect even if it is amazingly literal nod to aviation.

  • It's nice but it does looks a bit like a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto (the Hammy comes in 38mm too...). Also check the lug to lug length - Longines can be oddly long.

The Longines Fab Suisse that might be coming out soon looks interesting...

  • Just ordered for stock . I love all the Heritage series

  • Sorely tempted by this one. You don't happen to know the L2L by any chance??

  • Just had a look on the Longines website, seems like the whole heritage range is 30 atm, even the divers.

  • 3 ATM is pretty water resistant! I mean, you should expect t be able to wear a new 3 atm watch in the rain, wash your hands, wash your car etc with no problems. You should even expect to shower with it with no problems although I don't shower with any watches personally.

What are you guys planning on doing with these (mainly) dress watches?

  • At least the Longines Legend Diver is 30 Bar.
