  • Where are you buying from? If it's eBay go for a seller with a good amount of Feedback and all positive, and send a message first with any questions. Could even ask them for a phone chat if you're unsure. You can generally tell if a bike has been mistreated or not by how the seller writes about it and from checking the photos. Previous generation SuperSix Evos were so nice and IMO look miles nicer than the new ones. You can always put a Praxis BB in if you want to run standard non-BB30 cranks. Many second-hand bikes will already come with these sorts of things installed.

When I bought a Cannondale recently, I knew from the description that the seller was a keen cyclist, not just "someone selling a bike". Checked their other items and they were selling another nice bike, some old steel thing, so clearly it was an interest for them. You could wait for one to appear second-hand that someone has tastefully customised / upgraded, or a stock one that hasn't been roughed about too much. Oh and another good tip: If they say collection only, ask if they would mind packaging it up and you arrange the courier. You can get a bargain that is in the middle of nowhere and no-one can collect.
