Don’t fuck with that shit dude. Glad it’s worked out well, but we don’t have a shortage of masks atm. Wear one. Carbon dust is nasty stuff

I'm sure you're being sensible, but I'd treat carbon dust like I'd treat asbestos. It's really, really nasty stuff. A good way to stop dust getting into the air is to wet sand - if you're doing it dry and there's dust in the air you 100% need some kind of extraction.

No doubt just decimated the stems resale value but thats most of the clear coat and paint removed.
