Whooooosh 🙄

Thanks for your replies, I don’t have a disc braked frame yet so for now I will continue with the LFGSS default rim Kinlin XR31. No oriental carbon for me this year.

My experience is the grooved is great in the dry, compared to older ££ carbon wheelsets which aren't textured. They don't seem to eat pads any quicker or slower so if you have the money then just get them.
In the wet I can't say they are par for the course for carbon. But who rides carbon rim brakes in wet conditions and expects great braking anyway, unless you are racing.
Not used the ones they sell but incomparable performance between Miche, Enve, Lineline blue....weirdly SwissStop Black Prince was fine for me but the Yellow King was awful. Really loud, loads of material on the brake track, not nearly as much bite. Avoid.

I've been using yellow swisstops on Chinese cheap rims for ages. Braking on dry is about as good as my alloy set. They do wear quick and make a mess, but stopping is good

That’s perfect, just what I’m looking for. Thanks!

Nm. Early morning wake up after one too many drinks doesn’t make for coherence. :)

That's odd, well I've probably got a set or two to shift if you want them!

Nah, I have too many spares to go through and I'd like to try something that doesn't cover my rims in yellow anyways. Wonder if it's something to do with having the brake surface roughed up by use, braking was a lot worse when my wheels were new.

I'd rather an aluminium or steel MTB as it is. Carbon from the big brands I know can be as strong or stronger but buying a £500 no name carbon frame and throwing it down a mountain seems like asking for trouble to me

Got this carbon frame from China, gone to do some downhill... Could never see that coming

Easyti titanium seatpost and clamp from eBay. About £45.00 I think. Arrived much sooner than quoted date, took about 3 weeks. It’s nice. If it breaks hopefully I’ll live to tell you about it.
