I've got a set of wheels on eBay, listed under a £1 max final value promotion, that has since expired. I assume this is still valid for the listing? It doesn't have to sell before the promotion ends?
-
• #1928
Promo applies to item for duration of first listing for both auctions and BIN. Only expires if you relist. Its worth reading the T&Cs.
Btw current final value promo expires midnight tonight -

Thought as much, thanks. Not a lot of clarity from eBay, on anything, actually.

"oh this is just the Noga factory branding them slightly differently so they can sell more"
This does happen with factories in China. Same production line doing branded and out the back door stuff. A lot of cost is the set up so the incremental cost isn't that high. Often not the same QC on the out the back door stuff though.

Yeah, still fraudulent I'd think. Wouldn't mind if it'd been sold as "...from the same factory as Noga..." as it does work.
Did the virtual chat thing on Paypal again today and it gets to a point where it's like "Do you want to be referred to an assistant" so I clicked yes and it asks you to write a message with what you need help with and put in the transaction number etc and I was just like, "What is going on? This is ridiculous, you need to sort this".
Firm but polite.
Got a message about half hour later saying I was getting a refund.

Yes, still fraudulent. Rights holders spend a fair bit of time trying to put a stop to it.

I live in Canada and do okay on EBay Canada.
Sunday I listed two items and the Ebay Ca kept redirecting me to the US site for listing.
Today it took me ages to de list them.
Bastards have locked many of the listing terms. Could not edit anything and had to end the auction instead.Fucking frustrated

About to buy something off eBay, seller looks totally legit and we’re corresponding on email, I’m assuming it’s risky though to send money direct via PayPal?
-
• #1935
Don't do it friends and family and you should be ok
-
• #1936
Outside the normal eBay buying system?
-
• #1937
Yeah just direct payment
-
• #1938
Haven’t seen that option come up but i wouldn’t. They’re based in Germany, and all I’m seeing is a £2.99 charge to send, but maybe that option comes up later on in the transaction..
EDIT, it’s okay I see it, thanks
-
• #1939
I wouldn't do anything outside of eBay.
If you just randomly send money directly all sorts could go wrong and I doubt you'll be protected.
Happy to be corrected.
-
• #1940
You’ll be protected by PayPal if you pay goods and services.
I wouldn’t risk it tho 😆
-
• #1941
I think - probably learned on here - that Paypal protection is far greater/usurps any decision eBay may make so that paying 'goods and services' is exactly the same as buying using Paypal on eBay?
-
• #1942
This. I had a thing a while back (Facebook marketplace) and I had to whine to paypal. They pulled the money back out of the sellers account pretty quickly - if anything it was quicker and more straight forward than if it had been through eBay.

Sold a desk for 19 quid on Saturday, collection only. Sent invoice saying thanks and let me know when you can collect, but no word from buyer until 2 days later when payment arrives - but no message.
Pinged them a thanks, and again let me know when you can collect, couple of days later still no reply.
Bognor Regis address, so not local as I’d expect for collection (though that’s not definitive).
I think I wait a week then refund the payment. If they accept then all good, if they don’t then I loose my eBay fees. Is that how this goes, anything else I should know or do?
-
• #1945
Why would you do anything? Isn’t the next step for them to come and collect or contact you to say otherwise?
Or are you keen to shift the desk (so sell it to someone else)?
-
• #1946
I’d just wait for them to tell me when they want to collect, and don’t forget to scan the code ebay send them when they turn up
-
• #1947
Maybe being over pessimistic - I’ve not had a situation where 4 days have passed and a buyer hasn’t made contact (though I don’t use eBay much), and yes it’s something I want to shift - I’m less fussed about the money than I am about moving it on.
I guess I’m thinking worst case - if they haven’t arranged to pick it up in a week then next step would be refund?

Whatever you do, don't refund without going through the correct process.
Basically (assuming they're not going to collect) you have two options to get things resolved properly.
Either file for non-collection; not sure how this is classified in ebay but if they don't respond, eventually ebay will cancel the transaction and refund your fees; OR the buyer has to request that you cancel the transaction. Once they've requested it you can cancel yourself and again, you'll get your fees refunded.
Unfortunately there's nothing to really force a buyer to complete a purchase if they don't want to. Even after the sale, ebay still gives buyers a lot of rights.
I've had items turn up and before I've even opened the package I've raised a return and sent an item back as I'd changed my mind over the couple of days it took to arrive.
Risks of being a seller unfortunately. Luckily very rarely has this happened to me the other way round! -

That’s really my question - the concept of “filing for non collection” doesnt seem to exist. Only for non payment.
The buyer has paid via PayPal, that’s recorded so I can’t file for non payment. But the desk is still sitting with me and the buyer isn’t getting in touch, and I want shot of it.
It’s odd

eBay is weird. I once sold a bike for approx £1500 and the buyer didn't collect if for 6 months 🤷🏻♂️ I moved 100 miles in that time. Eventually collected saying life got in the way?!
Gah, useless paypal cunts!
Bought a 'Noga' deburring tool mid July, when it showed up it was branded 'Nuoda'. Its a blatant case of counterfeit product being sold as the genuine article. For those that don't know Noga is a pretty decent brand of (amongst other things) deburring tools.
Filed a claim on the 17th July and its still not resolved yet.
Seller said via ebay messages that "oh this is just the Noga factory branding them slightly differently so they can sell more" which a)sounds like bullshit and b)even it was true it sounds like a whole different type of fraud.
When I opened the dispute/claim thing on Paypal the resolution date was the end of July, when it got to that date it changed to early august and so on. It was supposed to be resolved today but it just got bumped to the 22nd Aug now.
Tried ringing them but its an automated system and it just gives you the info that's already online.
Anyone know how you get put through to an actual person?
