  • Marketing isn't just adverts on TV, the end goal is to drive people to want to buy your product. Even limiting supply to keep demand up is part of it (Rolex). In my opinion Omega are already on the top end of rrp for comparable watches and they're not particularly hard to get hold of, they rely on the whole "first watch on the moon" thing way too much and if they keep pumping out special editions while increasing prices they're going to kill their desirability.

    Also the speedy professional doesn't even have sapphire.

  • The rumour is that omega are about to adopt a similar scarcity model to rolex and put the prices up. I hope it’s not true, I like the fact you can buy a speedy moon watch on the high street.

    You can get a speedy pro sapphire sandwich if you don’t care about the moon stuff.
