Went and had a play with some Campag Chorus 12 stuff and thought the ergonomics were far superior. So I am going to sell my 105 group and Phil wheels because Phil are not manufacturing Campag freehub bodies anymore (and I would loathe to spend $165 on a freehub body anyway) and will buy Chorus 12 bits and some new wheels. I'd go 11 speed but the price of 11 is too close to 12 to bother. Probably factory wheels. I'm not sure I believe the hype in swag hubs after riding these. Nice, but unnecessary.

I think.
My hesitation on buying Campag has always been twofold: it's expensive and Shimano/SRAM use the same cassette body so parts were interchangeable and thus availability higher/their parts were more competitive in price. But that's not the case anymore. Chorus 12 is similar in price to Ultegra and SRAM now have their own freehub body. So my primary reasons are slowly becoming a moot point. The heart wants what it wants....

I did it. Oops.

Good choice! A nice frame like this definitely deserves a baller groupset. How much you looking to get for the wheels (more out of curiosity I guess... I can’t justify buying more things... maybe)

I’ve already sold them I am afraid to someone in MN.

Does she ride Campag?

Why stop at Chorus? Record is only a *few hundred away
*1x 105 groupset

So proud

I am indeed. I actually quite like the Chorus cranks but it seemed unnecessary to buy them when I just got the Praxis ones.
@Señor_Bear - heh. Because that’s a few hundred that I need to put in the bank for a CCC ;-)

Ordered at about 3AM BST on Tuesday morning. Shipped Tuesday at 10AM BST Tuesday morning from Merlin. Arrived in California today. Wild. DHL 😍
Controversially spoked Campagnolo Zonda’s are on the way, too. I’m undecided on how I like them aesthetically. I used to really hate them but having seen them on a few Ti bikes, I think they can work. I’ve only read really really good things about them though. I’d have got the Fulcrum equivalent but they’re like $150 more and the only difference is the spoke pattern.
Should be here by mid next week and then I’ll hopefully build it up by next weekend. Too hot to ride and air quality too low to ride here at the moment anyway.

I know the zondas have been updated since, but I did about 10000km on a set a few years ago and they were great. I'm a heavier rider too and no flex etc. Very good value for money imo.

You'd better get good at adjusting your gears.

I’m hoping the Campagnolo myths of old are no longer true but we shall see. If I don’t like it long term then so be it. I’m already confused as to how I set it up and the instructions are pretty crap. Not many good online guides either.
@gillies they have changed the width but they’re pretty similar otherwise. Nothing else even remotely competitive in that price range IMO. And they’re built by hand...
Also, whoever said this would look better with black tyres was right. Looks well good. Also prefer it with black spokes.

Yep, they are my go to for reasonable factory wheels whenever a pal is asking etc. Can't go wrong.
Also you you gonna make a post like ^ and not post pics?!
