  • Hollowgram si cranks on a non cannondale frame - yay or nay?

I have a new frame coming, Specialized with osbb. I was going to sell my bb30 hollowgrams and potentially go with something else.

But I've realised I can have the arms re-anodised into a colour that might suit the frame and avoid having to buy new cranks.

I have two of the spacer kits so getting the cranks installed and spaced correctly shouldnt be too hard. Would I be best installing the cranks as if its a cannondale frame as per the instructions here https://www.cannondale.com/-/media/files/manual-uploads/manuals/SISL2_Road_Crankset_Instr_1012.pdf

Anyone done this? Any issues to look out for? new frame is an sl6 tarmac

edit - can anyone recommend a place in uk that could do custom lazer etching to have the logos put back?

Be careful as the process to remove the current anodising may affect the bonding of the crank arms. Few threads about this on WW etc.

  • Aye I seen this thanks! There seems to be a good few examples of hollowgrams arms being re-anodised online though. Few folk on WW have done it without issue I think.

Although I am basically assuming it will be ok simply because I read someone on a forum say "it will be fine" - what could possibly go wrong...
I'll be talking more to the folk who will do the anodising, if they are cool with it then I'll take a punt.

I guess theres potential to get them back and realise they look shit on the frame and then have to try sell the arms on in an undesirable colour

  • Si hollowgram cranks are hollow forged I thought - not bonded halves like the Si SL.
