  • Ah yes, the light blue one.

  • Small price if I like the way it rides, proportionally it looks like an inch could come off with no real harm done to the frame. Look at Giani's, his tube is shorter, yes a smaller frame but still less sticking out. I’ll certainly be finishing it before making any decisions.

  • His is shorter as it surely a custom made frame.

I had a couple of cut Leader AX, they're rare to come uncut nowadays...it'd be a real shame to cut this fine example :(
Let's hope it won't come to that.

  • I had the same issue. Meant it was too big for me. Passed it on.

  • I've also seen quite a few with shorter tube and judging by the colour scheme on yours, if 2cm is taken of no one will ever know, unless sold on here :)

But if it is done I would be careful with that hacksaw, certainly not a hand tool jobby, would get it cut by a pro, nice and clean

  • Just please don't cut it

  • What about using another seatpost and a seatpost clamp?

  • Would still require drilling and cutting a slot

  • 🤔 true...

@Foreigner65 Sell it and buy one in your size! There’s been a few on here recently!

  • Not on this one I think steel is a bit thin on the top. And value would plummeted. Alu frames on the other hand have been done plenty of times, I have one at LBS right now to be done as the frame cost less than a seat post.

  • Nah mine is good size it’s Vintage Jon’s one that he thinks about cutting

  • Yes, I was thinking that. It's obviously been passed around a bit as the size is in between being too big and just right. I think I can ride as is but would prefer a tad more pin on show.
I restore old cars as a hobby and have cut some special things up to weld so although it sounds a bit casual, I'd be very careful.

  • Good one. So now I know where to come for a spot of cut and weld 😀

  • "I think I can ride as is but would prefer a tad more pin on show"
Please promise not to cut it for purely aesthetic reasons.

  • Have you butchered the frame yet?

  • Nope it’s still intact.
A couple of hours after this pic my mother passed away suddenly last Sunday night. Very peacefully and had been apparently well until that moment. We had been with her after church and she had fed our kids as she usually did when I was doing stuff at her place.
The Lord called her and she wasn’t coming back.

Loving the bike, with the sidi shoes I have raised the seat pin.

  • Sorry to hear that. Glad she was at peace and got to spend time with you and your kids.

  • Really sorry to hear that Jon. All the best mate

  • Thank you for your kind words.

  • Sorry to hear that news Jon. Hope that Moser is treating you well.

  • Oh yes! It rolls along so well, I had the components waiting for something special to hang on other than the c record ergo levers and a few other parts. Very happy.
I rode it on Sunday evening out to the Surrey Oaks at Newdigate, just for an early evening ride and it transfers power to the road etc superbly.
I have a lot of nice frames built up and this is right up there with the Battaglin world champion, maybe nicer.

  • Sorry to hear your awful news, Jon. My condolences to you and your family.

  • Sorry for your loss Jon. Great to hear you've managed to find a solution for that seatpost.

  • Thank you. And thanks for a superb frame etc!
