• Cross post from bike packing:

I have a metal briefcase, dimensions 45.5 x 33 x 10cm, which perfectly contains all of my snooker refereeing kit.

I want some way of attaching it to my rear pannier rack. (Wrong thread, I know, but it seems sort of appropriate - read on.)

Instead of buying a pannier that is big enough to accommodate it, I am after a more elegant solution.

First thought was to drill through the case and add some pannier clips, but that will be a bit ugly, possibly not waterproof and annoying when the case is off the bike.

Next option was to find a product that already does this task, and there is one, the Steco Attaché-Mee. But it will be heavy, non foldable and a bit fugly.

I am now thinking about a kind of net of webbing straps, two that go around the case and two that go under it, with pannier hooks attached and an anti sway clip, preferably with tensioning buckles as appropriate and retaining clips. Etc etc , waffle waffle, ummmmm.

Any suggestions or ideas that I've missed?
Any idea how to make this thing, or who to speak to? (Sadly Black Rainbow Project is not able to help me out at the moment, I asked.)

  • Depending on your bike, a front rack like what Soma, Specialized or Surly make would work well.

I just measured my Soma porteur rack and it would fit flat on that with only a bit hanging over the edges front and sides. Could strap it down with bungee cords easily. It all depends on your bike and bars.

I should have said, I don't want a front flat rack on the bike because:

    A) I don't like them
    B) I already have a pannier rack on the front.
