I’m not explaining to a pharmacist why I need such small condoms.
-
• #17703
They don't ask you to explain.
-
• #17704
Or so I've been told.
-
• #17705
Certainly don't need it, but at 6'7" I'd quite like one
-
• #17706
I just wondered as once you add it all up they're not really that great a price for a a 4130 tubed full suspension bike.
-
• #17707
6'7" is the best reason ever to get a custom frame!
-
• #17708
36er tandem for you two
-
• #17709
Definitely need a van.
-
• #17710
Yeah, at the beginning of the day I was thinking hardtail, I'm now leaning towards full sus which I have zero knowledge of and wouldn't back myself to go custom
-
• #17711
Geometron for you then.
-
• #17712
Sadly way out of budget, have been keeping an eye out for an XXL G13 but you don't see many.
Any other ideas? Tempted by a Orange Stage 5 (or similar) in XL, there are a few floating about
-
• #17713
Ben Cathro is your height, he seems to fit on Santa Cruz
-
• #17714
You know they're the same as Nicolais?
@platypus where was it that you mentioned you kept seeing G13s?
Orange - insane money, the polished ones though 🤤
Might want to have a look at Cotic's Geometry chart I've got a L and I'm 6'2" and I'm long in the trunk (32x32 jeans), and I've got the saddle all the way forward.
Santa Cruz are definitely churning out custom frames for their riders, dunno if he rides one. IMHO they're a bit bland.
-
• #17715
Yeah, but they don't seem much cheaper new and I've yet to find either in XXL on ebay.
Benefit of the Orange is the 2nd hand market, so would be 1/3 the price of a new G13.
I loved my Roadrat even though it was far too small, would love a Cotic. My view on FlareMAX sizing (stack, reach, seat tube) is it's similar to a lot of the XL bikes out there. I'm all leg (92cm from saddle to BB) which means the long and low trend is working against me. For example the Cotic FlareMAX has a ~50cm seat tube meaning almost the same again in dropper post which isn't pretty and I can't quite bring myself to accept

Yeah, that looks all kinds of wrong

I laughed, which made me sad

You'd certainly benefit from more seat tube and head tube
I'm guessing you're used to having a fair bit of saddle to bar drop?

Dunno what your budget is but might be worth looking at Curtis? They will do custom seat tube and head tube lengths and angles and aren’t crazy expensive for a custom full sus bike
-
• #17720
@BareNecessities yeah always had lots of bar/saddle drop, I need 36ers to catch on!
@dry never heard of Curtis before, I'm a bit worried about going custom unless it's cheap as possible because I'm so unsure what I need and what I would enjoy riding if a bike fit me
-
• #17721
This might be of some use to you
There's a few steel builders making full sus frames that could sort you out a custon size, but I doubt you'd get much change from £2.5k, which is around Nicolai prices :-/
Nothing else in the Marino price bracket, though perhaps Waltly have a titanium option?
Either of those two would require you to already have a very good idea of the bike's proportions
-
• #17722
Or one of the Atherton frames - 3d printed Ti lugs and carbon tubes with custom fit.... bit pricier though.
-
• #17723
Wow, that makes my comparison look childish, thanks!
Waltly would be really tempting if I knew exactly what I wanted, reckon the price would be a bit less than a Curtis without the expert guidance
-
• #17724
Bikes for the very tall
Geometron then. Stumpjumper is up there though isn't it.

It was when they made it in a XXL size, which they no longer do :-(
Condoms.
