I have the same question! I’ve a 2m Thunderbolt 3 cable which came with the LG UltraFine 4K Display. The screen costs £629, but it doesn’t say if the included cable is “active” or not? If the Apple cable is £129 separately, then er, does this make the LG display a bargain?

Scratch that; the 5k display does come with an active cable. 5k display uses 22Gbps of bandwidth so over the passive cable rate.

I have a feeling it may be passive as I don't think that 24 inch needs 20+ Gbps data, but it does need to provide power. Could be wrong though.

The first gen 5K is TB3 only but the new gen have USB C as fallback.

I may be wrong about the first bit, it is kinda confusing.
