  • Has anyone got any recommendations for a reasonably priced 35mm point and shoot? My mju-ii has so many light leaks as to be unusable now and I can't afford to replace it like for like. Would ideally like something similar though!

    Here's a few pictures I have taken semi-recently.

  • lovely shots. how about an olympus af-1? can usually be picked up for less than £40 and they look like they take pretty nice shots

the mju zooms look alright too, and are way cheaper than their prime lensed counterparts, if you don't mind the fact that it's a zoom

  • Obviously I don't know what it's like, but can't you replace the seals?

  • Mju I. Can be had for £30 still. Fuck getting a zoom and getting an slr isn’t as pocketable. It’s not the same at all IMO. You want a cheap camera that you’re not worried about and takes up as little space as possible, and that you just need to hit a button to shoot.

    Obviously just my 2p.

  • any of the 400000 types of canon sureshots tend to do well. There are even ones that do half frame which is nice!

EDIT: The one that @Turkish sold me has served me many good nights out!

  • If you want really cheap the ricoh ff9 is sharp, good colour rendition and can still be had for under 20. The smaller metal bodied Pentax espios are really nice 120sw and ew particularly ,a bit of vignetting and slower lenses but make nice images. Olympus af-1 twin less inflated prices and generally appreciated. As a rule of thumb for electronic cameras, only spend as much as youre willing to loose, had a few die on me in the past. The popular ones are only going to be had at reasonable prices at a carboot or charity shop if your lucky! Attached some pictures taken on said cameras...

  • Just to stick my nose into the compact vs SLR chat and muddy the waters even further, a small, fixed lens rangefinder might be worth considering as well. I've had a couple that I've enjoyed using, particularly a Canon Canonet. They're small enough to carry wherever you go and you can get some really nice photos out of them. They're dirt cheap on eBay as well.
