  • That was the case when I ordered the double gems, I got them about 3 weeks after ordering. Really glad I waited as they’re such good value.

  • I'm a bit confused by the BK range. A square box would suit me best. Platinum 12" looks ideal but they also do the "xx" range and I'm struggling to understand how they are different.

  • Think the XX has a 400w amp instead of 300w. I’m fairly sure 300w will be ample, the same amp drives my 2x10 units and they don’t go above 9 o’clock on the gain knob.

  • went through this - ended up with q350s and an amp. big boxes are cool.

  • Roon is really annoying me now.

I regret paying £120 for this.

Just need Tidal to integrate with JRiver MC and I will be saying sayonara to Roon.

  • interested in why

  • Mainly because keeps forgetting the mapped folder on my NAS so it says I have no music and should add a folder.

Then I have to go and piss about with windows to get it to recognise the folder again. Admittedly, this is likely to be primarily a windows issue but Roon makes it more annoying.

And also I don't like how the navigation works that much.

And it's too expensive for what it is.

  • How are you mapping the drive? Over WiFi? What network protocol are you using for the share, SMB or AFP or something else? does the folder require authentication? What hardware and OS are you running the room server on?
    Also what NAS?

Maybe we can fix this 😉

  • Could be either your NAS is spinning down to save power or you're using a mapped network drive rather than just pointing directly at the NAS address.

  • Hi both

It's an ethernet connection to the NAS.

Edit: It's an ethernet connection to the router which has ethernet to NAS.

The NAS software kicks the NAS into life when I start a PC which has that installed on it, and I've just used windows "map network drive" to establish the connection.

It works most of the time. Sometimes it doesn't and I get annoyed.

  • you're using a mapped network drive rather than just pointing directly at the NAS address

Looks like this is a possibility.

  • Also what NAS?

It's an ancient buffalo link station. On my list of things to replace but hey, I gots subwoofers to buy :-)

  • These are sometimes a bit flaky in my experience and don't always reconnect automatically. Using the actual network address seems to be more reliable.

  • Right, I'll give that a go. Thanks.

  • Someone recommended me a jbl charge before. Got to say, for 100quid it's very good for a small thing. Thanks!!

  • That was @cornelius_blackfoot I think.

  • Bluesound node 2i arrived. Yup does everything I need it to, just using its own dac for now, sounds fine decent level out of it (rca to an amp), app does most things except doesn't allow as much as Tidal's own app can offer. Bit more complicated to browse and que up music, maybe there is a way of using Tidal's app to drive the bluOS app instead but not got that far yet.
Lack of remote slightly annoying for volume. But like that the phone (controlling it) can drop out off the network and the node will continue on without issue.
DAB radio integration fairly good for live music, and being able to scan back through the current days music on that station.

  • Shameless plug. I'm selling a Sony CDP XB930 in the classifieds if anyone's after a nice CD player!

  • I know i said i was done, but i got offered a Technics SL1000 Mk2 in lovely condish - the BOSS!

It is all there, except the original headshell, so that should stop me tinkering. I just want to set it all up and settle back into the vinyl anxiety game.

    Very excited.

  • Been unfurloughed so working from home means I can rip cd's without any anxiety as I await new work coming in, as I HAVE TO sit in front of my computer. At the current rate and excluding any ripping issues I'm hoping I can do about 50 a day

  • That would be around the amount I'd expect although life gets in the way. I ended up installing an ASUS BW-16 in a tower and it made the process a lot easier. I needed it for ripping blu-ray though.

  • I'm assuming when work ramps up that number will drop significantly, but while I've got a bit of time on my hands may as well crack on.

  • Depending on your amp you may also need a phono stage.

  • Making a dent in a big pile of cd's anyone have any solutions to the issue of cd ripper giving an error on single tracks off an album/cd, and subsequently not ripping it. Anyway of forcing it to rip the track? Some ripping preferences you can switch off?
Or am I stuck with album rips which might be missing a track or two.

It's too much effort to try and re rip through itunes, especially when it's not a whole album which is falling over..
