  • My hot water smells of sulphur. A cursory google tells me it's likely caused by elevated levels of hydrogen sulphide and sulphur bacteria in the water. All the results are about replacing anodes in water heaters - however I don't have a water heater, just a combi boiler. On top of that the smell only comes from my kitchen tap, not the bathroom taps downstairs or upstairs. What kind of problem am I experiencing? I'm planning my #40kKitchen for early next year at which point I'll replace the boiler so ideally I don't want to have to shell out too much now.

A combi just heats the mains water as it goes through, either your mains water is bad, or there's a tee off the pipe somewhere which has been capped off and is too long (long enough to hold stagnant water).
