  • My hot water smells of sulphur. A cursory google tells me it's likely caused by elevated levels of hydrogen sulphide and sulphur bacteria in the water. All the results are about replacing anodes in water heaters - however I don't have a water heater, just a combi boiler. On top of that the smell only comes from my kitchen tap, not the bathroom taps downstairs or upstairs. What kind of problem am I experiencing? I'm planning my #40kKitchen for early next year at which point I'll replace the boiler so ideally I don't want to have to shell out too much now.

  • I've had this before. Although I was living in Reykjavík at the time, and everyone's hot water smelled of rotten eggs.

Have you traced the hot water pipes back to the boiler? It's odd that it would be from one tap only.
