I was speaking to our buying agent yesterday. There's nothing to stop you, but a number of things make your offer more attractive. The main thing is being able to proceed. Not having an offer of yours will count against you, but having your place listed and there being enough interested for offers to have been submitted it a positive.
How long has the place you're looking at been on the market? Do you know if the price has changed at all? Have they had other offers/many viewings?
Ours has been on a bit over 2 weeks, the place we like has been on 3.
The agent said theres two offers currently so we need to act, but tbh she had pushy salesman all over so I’m not sure i believe her. We’re not desperate so in that case we may just fling an offer in and see what happens
