For the big van, I’m in a rented transit right now and honestly it’s an absolute joy to drive. Don’t know what engine but it pulls really well and never feels lacking. Cabin is great, well thought out and roomy. Loads of space in the passenger row, although this is a LWB high roof job so not sure if the Custom is the same. I’m into VWs, had a bunch of air and water cooled cars, gone to all the shows and that but I can’t see how I would justify the extra cost of the VW over this unless residuals is where the value is.
Yeah, I mean I'd love a T6 Kombi, and it's deffo still at the top of my list, but its just amazing how much more you get for £25k in a Ford. It is hard to find a nice Transit Custom that doesnt have the full Ford RS boy racer graphics kit though.
I’m spending more and more of my weekends mountain biking so have been looking at nice vans, and totally agree with this.
I’m wondering about leasing a new one, but that side of things is all set up for businesses rather than private individuals (or I’m just not finding the punter-centric stuff).
Ive just bought a new Transit custom, direct from ford for £22k. 185bhp with captain seats instead of the bench up front. It’s worth giving them a call. No body kit either.
Amazing you can buy a new better spec’ed van for less than what private sellers want second hand.
+1 Cheap shitty Astra
