  • I was hoping someone would do it.

  • He's got hair, you arseholes...

Anyway, that Aussie bloke looks like Dov...

  • Who’s got that picture of Em wearing said items?

  • I've got pictures of half the forum wearing those things...

  • ...and nothing else.

  • Check out my onlyfans page...

  • My ISP doesn't let me without my parents permission.

  • On the subject of onlyfans... I was chatting with one of my staff the other day, she's 21, it appears a bunch of her old schoolmates are on onlyfans and this is a normal thing now... Just another way to supplement your income, really?

They all spend a fortune on cosmetic surgery/enhancement, this I already know... It seems to be endemic in younger generations, young women getting fillers and Botox injections every few weeks... It's a strange world we're living in...

  • a bunch of her old schoolmates are on onlyfans and this is a normal thing now

Not normal in the statistical sense. There are only about half a million content creators worldwide on Onlyfans, but there are over 4 million women in their 20s in Britain alone.

The upper limit of the Fermi estimate for prevalence of sex-working on Onlyfans, assuming all users are women in their 20s in primarily English-speaking countries and using it for sex-work, is approximately 1%. The lower limit, assuming some spread to foreign language markets, a wider age range among content providers and the site being not totally dominated by porn is probably still above 0.1%

  • Liking your research

  • Sounds more like lonelyfans amirite?

  • Some make a fortune on onlyfans

  • Some make a fortune on onlyfans

Again, not normal. The mean payout per content creator is about $1500 since launch. We can make some sort of Fermi estimate here too, allowing for the usual exponential growth rate of Internet platforms and the heavy skewing of payouts to a small number of very successful accounts, I'd guess that the median content provider would get an annual income of less than $100 from their Onlyfans subscribers.

  • research

It's not research, it's guesswork bounded by a couple of known facts. One of the things people generally can't grasp intuitively is just what a big number "Everybody" is, and as a result how small a subset of them have to be doing something to make it look popular now that you can see all of them in one place, thanks to teh internetz.

  • My partner(30something) is on OnlyFans. It’s as much for her own gratification as the money. It pays for outfits for her clothed alt modelling work. The subscription fees are low to lure in the subscribers but the real money is made by up selling your premium content.
Plenty of her modelling friends have recently quit their ‘real’ jobs to do it full time(along with other adult modelling/cam work) as the money is there. Like any job based on social media and self-promotion you get out what you put in. There are definitely women(and men) that make a fortune on those platforms but they are in the minority. In my partners case it pays for the odd treat but she enjoys the editing and marketing side of it as well.

When I were a lad, the money was in stripping. Loads of well known jazz magazine models and quite a few actors and dancers who were barely getting by from their day jobs would make most of their income from 50p-in-the-jug pub stripping. The factors which have killed that industry are for another day.
The interesting thing about moving from real world to virtual is that the spread of outcomes is so much wider now that its a: worth doing for so little return, since it can be done with so little investment and b: can be incredibly lucrative because an arbitrarily large number of customers can be served for essentially the same input.
In the pub stripping days, the most successful artists were only making about 5 times what the median stripper was making, the ratio on Onlyfans is going to be a factor of more like 5000

  • The other thing to remember is that it puts the control solely in the hands of the creator. No exploitation. A big complaint about pornhub and other free sites is that they are slow to remove illegal content and host content ripped from private paid services. This has lead to more toxic masculinity and the belief that all content should be free and the bullying of insta/of models.
Many people create anonymous content as well and do very well from it. The appeal of being able to do it all on your own terms seems to be a big win.

  • Are their parallels to the music industry, I read somewhere that the highest earner pre records I.e. live performance only earnt £x per annum. Once records came out the highest earner earnt £1000x

  • Are their parallels to the music industry

Yes, and film/TV vs. theatre etc.. The ability to disseminate your performance to an audience which would be impossible to serve in person makes entertainment much more scalable. Also, the internet has had a similar effect far beyond the arts, by making the cost of scaling a business far less than it was when you actually had to build new branches in every town.

  • Never said it was normal, I just know someone who has made 6 figures doing it 🤷🏾‍♀️

  • there's a lass on this noise that's made a fortune out of flogging her used bathwater to internet saddoes. woman's a marketing genius.

  • internet saddoes

    Different strokes

  • Let he who hasn't masturbated whilst gargling somebody's scummy bathwater cast the first stone.
