I know the area very well, we've had friends down there for ages and visit often. I had lunch in the Dorset Arms on Saturday and had a nice chat with Lord Delaware who was sitting next to me. He used to own the Ashdown Forest but sold it to the council a few years back. He told me that it was impossible to get planning permission for anything within an 8km radius of the forest, so you might want to look into that before buying.
Went to see the place in the Ashdown Forest today. The grounds are amazing, there’s a gate that takes you straight out into the forest itself, and the rooms are all nice and large.
However, the place needs gutting and redoing, literally new everything, plaster every wall etc etc. The neighbours on the right all look like that chap from the Goonies, and have a fine collection of fucked vans, and interestingly a mint R34 Skyline.
Said Skyline is parked in front of one of the two garages belonging to the property that we went to view, and one of their fucked vans is blocking the rear access track (and clearly has been for years).
Looks to me like 200k of decorating and potentially an immediate conflict with the neighbours over being able to get into the house. I’d need to see the deeds on that one I guess, and then decide if I wanted to make myself hugely unpopular from the gun.
