This is going to be epic, and deserves its own "current projects" thread.

Got about half of the upper layer done this evening. Pallets are starting to run low where I get them from.
The roof something I’m concerned about. I have a tendency for belt and braces but I’m thinking the roof needs to be strong but light. Any advice helpful

Am in awe. What a project!

Looking good, how about corrugated plastic or that polycarbonate sheeting? Maybe even wrap the whole thing in poly tunnel sheeting?
-

I just used corrugated stuff from wickes for a veranda type thingy. Shitting it about the wind lifting everything though, used a lot of screws and will reinforce the front section before autumn.

1 pallet short at the front.
Going to start cladding tonight. Also need to fit the window but it’s a two person lift so will wait until I have another of hand to do that.
I’m trying to keep the costs as low as possibly. The pallets have been free. I’ve spent about £27 on screws so far. Probably about £30 to go to finish the cladding and roof. Shed for £60 gets no complaints from me

Where is the window going? I can see the hole for the door :)
-
• #1263
The window is going on the right hand side. I wanted to get some of the cladding on for a bit of additional strength first before putting the window in. It’s really really heavy

Sorry if I’m bombarding with progress pictures. Just say and I’ll happily stop

I'm very jealous, you're basically building your own castle. Fingers crossed you're going to construct some embrasures
-
• #1266
Awesome, should make a ‘current projects’ thread of it.

If you are in SE London we have a spare pallet to get rid.... :)

Keep going!

• #1269
Yes!
Hope you’ve got planning permission:) -

Interesting you mention this. Had an email from the parish council saying I need to dismantle it!
They are concerned it’s too big - there’s bigger on our allotment
That it’s permanent - it’s a shed
That it could be dangerous - there’s lots of dangers in allotments; glass, some chemicals, poisonous plants. Why do I bother
-
• #1271
Nooooo! Will it fit in your garden instead?
-
• #1272
My wife wouldn’t allow it. So close to putting the roof on too.
-
• #1273
Just finish it anyway, people get away with a lot worse
-

That sucks!
An issue with allotments, which could work either way, is they are run by low level local councils and even just allotment tenants. So you just never know what is going to happen. And if you piss people off they can get very petty and make the whole experience the opposite of what you'd expect. -

I'd push back a bit on that. Ask what height it needs to be to comply, show that it's clearly as temporary as any shed, measure any larger structures etc.
Purple Sprouting looks lovely!
edit. And the rest :) and you have radishes yum
