I thought the power to pardon was almost absolute.
That would violate the principle of checks and balances. This is the summary list of notable pardons by US Presidents. Up until Nixon all of them look pretty sensible, after that it starts get murky until it turns into downright cronyism.
It will be interesting to see if later there is a push to change the executive clemency laws.
New York based charity is subject to NY State Laws and regulations. They might re-register in a different state, but their legacy stuff would still be subject to scrutiny.
A fair few NRA members would not be happy if the allegations are proven. Also Wayne Lapierre is a fucking mega-cunt of the highest order. And Trump can't pardon State crimes, only Federal crimes. I'm warming up the popcorn maker for this one.
