There are few things more cruel to inflict on a period house.
Fibreglass stone effect cladding?

Then again large swathes of the county sleepwalk through lives they unknowingly despise so who knows

But it's funny being on the wrong side of 50
You are definitely the right side of 50. Increased one of my KoMs by 3 seconds last week.

Never been to Ipswich in my life but I'm going to say it's ok, good bits and bad and precious to those for whom it is a part of their life, willingly or otherwise.

Just for balance the vast majority of the country actively despises London, it's a wonder there's such a clamour to get in!
Yes, cheeky really given that London pays for the rest of the country.

Which one? I'd like to have a go.

Fibreglass stone effect cladding?
Especially on a stone house which has been covered in pebbledash render. I've seen it done.

I've been to Ipswich and I've cycled through it. If there are good bits then I evidently missed them.

Same thing in the US - every red state is paid for by tax revenue generated by (largely) New York and California. Every Republican Governor is a welfare queen, as is ever single one of their voters.
UK provincial Brexists really don't like it when you point out that Londonistan (as they inevitably call it) pays for them.

Yeah, I dont give a shit about some twat's personal decorations with the wealth from the empire in the 19th century. I will care about history once they start teaching the colonial stuff in the schools. Obviously I wont/didnt go out of my way to destroy things but I really care very little for all of this nonsense. If you are British, its not a 'period' to be proud of.
Also Victorians shat outside, something I enjoy doing every now and then.

Not a bad shout.
Last time I went there it had a kind of shabby charm.

Neither do the Scots.

Also what were these all about? I remember melting them with a soldering iron on the sloping of ceiling of my parents converted bungalow when I was eight.

They're highly illegal now on account of their tendancy to release noxious gasses and cause it to rain molten plastic in a house fire.
Back in the day they were seen as an easy way to insulate rooms.
