is it not basically a MASH work?
-
• #3
Yeah I guess so but assumed things on it changed so was wondering if anyone could verify that

Bumping this- looking at the tutto frame for a slave build and wouldn't mind some feedback.

At least you have enjoyed it for that week 👌

Tutto plus full build only 700 on planetx currently. Tbf still not a great price considering the components but decent enough for a cinelli.
Can someone tell me why it has a lower stack and a longer reach than a vigorelli track frame though? Seems bizarre but maybe I just don't understand geo enough.

Nah you're right. I think it's because the horizontal TT. If you raise it where most people ride you don't get any standover clearance.

After a lots of dithering I've just ordered a Tutto Plus. I've got an original works which I love and have been riding it fixed on and off road for approaching 10,000 miles in the last 5 years. The geo all looks very similar, the only real difference appear to be the head tube being 1cm shorter on the Tutto for the size large, but I have the stem slammed on the works already so I don't think it'll be an issue.
I've been looking for a road plus bike which I could do some south downs trails and new forest gravel on which are all within riding distance of the front door. I had been considering stuff like the surly midnight spec or a strangler, but I don't really have the money for discs and a new wheel set so I've gone for a this.
I've got some TRP cx8.4 brakes sitting around along with some Apex cranks, king headset and thomson stem / seatpost. rear wheel is an ultegra hub on an archetype rim to get it on the road. front wheel will be shared with my Nature Boy, phil wood on an archetype.
Coming from wiggle I have some Sram Rival shifters and a force rear mech, all way more money than I wanted to spend but everything else is sold out.
Other stuff, on its way 105 cassette 11-34 some Ritchey comp butano bars.
I've got some kinesis carbon forks which look like they should work with the frame and are very light so I might use them to start off with. I'm not totally sold on the garish paint job on the forks, there might be a repaint on the future.
It might all arrive by the weekend which would be interesting.

Very interested to see how this all pans out for you. Include pics please. I've got half an eye on the tutto plus as I'm thinking about winter bike options. Enjoy the project.

Just in the final stages of putting my x1 tutto together. The frame paint is nice, I’m still not sure about the fork!

Excited to see this!

Yeah I’ve just about finished the build this afternoon, still messing about with bar tape and leaver position etc. It’s proper pissing it down here right now so not much chance of a photo right now I’m afraid.

This this is finished build (for now)
First impressions are good, much the same as my works, which was what I was hoping for. The rake of the forks seems like they only difference, 43 on the works vs 45 on the Tutto.
The TRP cx8.4 brakes are good, really good. Nearly had an unexpected accident on the test ride, there a bit on or off, but none of the spuggyness that I was half expecting.
The frame has some nice touches, limiter screws in the dropouts were nice to see when I got it out of the box. Bit odd that it came without the plastic bb cable guide, very annoying when you think you’ve got everything for the build and you have to find one of those!
In the future I’d like some nice wheels, and perhaps a carbon fork if I can find something with the right rake etc, the stock fork is nice be so unbelievably heavy.

Looks pretty cool. Carbon forks sounds good on that frame.
What size tyres are they? What are the clearances like?
-
• #20
There only 32 right now, I did briefly have some 38 on there but there a bit much for what I need right now. There was still bags of clearance. I believe you can put anything up to 45s and I think they would fine easily.

Hey @HousecatHST how's the Tutto? Got any recent pics, as I've recently got myself one and am considering getting a carbon fork, but am unsure if the bike will affect the bike's balance.
-
• #22
Yeah, I got a kinesis fork in the end, It’s got the same A2C and rake so it worked out nicely.
I’ve put just over 2000 miles on it and really like it. its more road plus than full on gravel bike but it handles the new forest fine, but its a bit out of its depth on parts of the South Downs. I built up a midnight special last year and I’ve hardly ridden it, if I’m riding gears I want to ride this.

Looks really nice, great idea to put a carbon fork on it!
I've got an XL Tutto Plus in a tracklocross build. Absolutely love it - built like a tank and very fun on gravel/trails. Will post some pictures soon.

How does it handle with a carbon fork? Stock fork is a hefty beast! So, is the steering lighter, bike's balance shifted more to the rear etc?

I know it’s a new model but I was kind of hoping there would be a bit more about circulating the forums. Has anyone tried one or own one?
I’m thinking of getting one for a commuter but unsure as there is so little about them going around
