  • Concerns about the ICE program arose when it was first announced, causing local activists in Chicago to worry the six-week course would act as a vigilante training camp. According to a report by NPR, a section of a letter inviting community members to apply stated that attendees would be offered training in “defensive tactics, firearms familiarization, and targeted arrests.”

In a press release published earlier this month, ICE announced it would be launching the program, which it calls a “Citizens Academy,” as a way “for participants to become familiar with how and why ICE carries out its mission.”

  • Why not actually take up a place and use it gain knowledge. The way the USA is going. This type of info could be handy.

  • The people most likely to take it up are the ones you probably don't want to be trained by ICE.

  • To be fair, he’s following a Dr‘s “science”

  • Why isn't bullet #3 two sperate points? Charlatanism.

  • Why isn't 'practicing' spelt correctly. Illiteracy.

    Oh how entirely unsurprising...

Trump calling for delay to election citing voter fraud, not the dreadful domestic situation and unfavourable polls.

Assume he can't unless it gets through the legilsature? (also looks to see what big unfavourable news is being distracted from by dead cat...)

  • Never gonna get through the Dem House - could he try to do it by decree?

  • I think there would need to be a constitutional amendment to delay the election to a point where Trump started a fifth year as president during the same term. Which ain't going to happen.

  • Could they challenge it through the courts, citing the "unprececedented" pandemic that they (possibly wantonly?) fucked up the handling of and delay/obfuscate that way?

  • (also looks to see what big unfavourable news is being distracted from by dead cat...)

    32.9% drop in GDP?

  • Ta.

    Plus 150k Covid deaths 'milestone'.

  • Would give him time to finish completely closing US Postal... therefore the postal vote

I don't think so. Congress could try to change the date to 2021+, but if they succeeded (which I doubt) it would be immediately challenged in court and be struck down.

States also handle elections, not the federal government, which complicates things in terms of trying to interfere in a nefarious way. I guess some Republican states could attempt to delay their own elections/refuse to send voters to the electoral college. No idea what would happen then... Presumably they've forfeit their votes which would be bad for the republicans.

But I'm playing this out from memory of teaching America politics in 2012.

  • I think there would need to be a constitutional amendment to delay the election to a point where Trump started a fifth year as president during the same term.

    That's certainly my understanding.

    Which ain't going to happen.

I'm inclined to agree. He's just talking whatever bollocks comes into his head, as usual.

  • Preparing the ground for a Presidential Pardon?
He only agrees to leave the White House peaceably if he,
    and his execrable offspring,
are all granted immunity from presecution for all their activities whilst in Office?

  • Constitutional amendments require ratification by 2/3 of the states' legislatures. (34 out of 50).

There's a reason there haven't been that many amendments.

  • If only US Postal could find a big-name star in a popular sport to help raise its profile, it might be able to dig itself out of this hole.

  • I really like the interviewer. Louie Theroux’s younger, slightly obstinate, American counterpart.

The other guy was a dick.

  • I couldn't watch this for long, utterly painful. Trump's like a baby trying to play a toddler.

  • My mate is convinced this is Armando Iannucci's new series

  • He’s Australian for a start
