Thought my opinion might tread on a few toes. Apologies
I just find silver to be the worse colour to show off any lines the car might have?

No need to apologise! Honestly didn't give any consideration to the colour when buying. Personally I generally dislike black for the hiding of lines reason you state (though black with some dull gold wheels & detailing can look wonderful)
I don't have many strong feelings on car colours. Lamborghinis should always be loud, stupid colours. Roadsters generally look great in BRG (or silver, IMO). Imprezas should always be blue, and Lancers red. S2000s are yellow or gun metal grey.
Also, two-tone paint jobs should definitely be more of a thing.
And black painted bonnets that pretend to be carbon can do one.

Contraversial there! Wouldn't have my MX5 in another colour (though if it were a MKI, BRG with tan roof and interior is hard to beat). I actually think the Esprit looks awesome in silver (if a little too much like a DeLorean)
