  • The comparison between what you can get for your money in London/East Anglia almost tempts me to move back... almost.
Still struggle to fathom how Prince of Wales road has become so down market so quickly (Norwich's old clubbing strip - it was never that nice, but it wasn't what it is now...)

  • No. I tested it on some that I knew had been taken off and put up as new listings (identical adverts) and it didn't show any price changes.

  • Most of the people I know avoid the place like the plague if you pop out for the evening now.

  • It would be nice to see that old cinema building turned into something rather than a nighclub.

  • Hasn't Mercy been closed for years? All the clubs in Norwich look derelict, not that I ever went, but its all just strip bars down there now.

  • I think Norwich has done a good job of moving with the times and regenerating itself. A few years back when chapelfield was built and then financial crisis you really had to worry for the place. If the connection to London was halfway decent I'd consider moving back but that train line is shocking.

  • Aye, thats been the way for about 20 plus years... I think it was the most violent street in Europe for a few years, but now, its just dead apart from the strip clubs, which are super low rent to have on the Main Street in a town, oh the shame...

  • Can you do it first so I can have someone to let me know if its safe?

  • I’m not surprised, last time (years ago) we crossed over Prince of Wales road on the way home my mate got knocked out for looking the wrong way

  • You don't even need Photoshop, just "inspect element" in your browser and change the numbers. If it's good enough for the scammers.....

  • Don't do this

  • I hadn't realised you were so wealthy, can I interest you in this thing called Bitcoin?

  • I just refreshed the browser and came crashing back down to reality.

  • Also, I don't think Ulsterbank would have any idea what Bitcoin is. But if you've got any red diesel going.....

Back to flats. Nested got in touch (the only one out of the 4 or so I've contacted for valuations and didn't immediately want to shove splinters under my nails) and we did a virtual walkaround on Friday. My holding my phone and pointing at things, remembering to not have it in selfie mode as I walked around. Should be sending me a raft of stuff tomorrow. Makes it easier if you don't want anyone traipsing around your place. It also meant ms&mini_com could tactically sneak from room to room depending one where I was at the time.

  • If you wanna make real money it's Dag Coin you need.

  • REAL money is in Supreme merch

  • I do need to understand what my place is worth, the answer to that also tells me how much equity we could extract my re-mortgaging.

  • Exactly why I'm getting valuations now and not waiting until we're ready to list

  • Can you work from ballpark and take the lowest of that figure for worst-case scenario?

That's what I've done when speaking to brokers ETC.

  • I want to bring my garden walls up to their former glory. One runs along the back of adjacent boundaries, the other is shared with a neighbor and I he's willing to share the cost. Actually he said he'd pay for our side and theirs but knowing him I could be waiting a long time for that to happen and I'd like to get the hard landscaping aspects sorted out this year at least.

Looks like it's been patched with cement and all-sorts in the past. I assume this is the kind of thing that will worth getting a specialist in for? I've done a bit of lime pointing before, but this seems like a much bigger job.

  • Interested to see if you can get a mortgage. It looks like the banks are applying an EWS1 requirement to any multi-occupant buildings.

  • Isn't that supposed to be a drystone / mortar-free wall?

  • Maybe? Don't know. I'll have a nose around at other people's gardens in the area.

True. Ours is a 1930's, brick and concrete structure with no cladding, and it's a four stories tall - does that fall under the EWS1 thing?
