Daft question, so thanks for answering. The way I went in to the page there was no '72 hours advanced notice sale' in massive letters.

Was liking the look of a the Rapha Mr Porter collab jerseys but quite glad I checked on here first as wouldn’t have realised the sale was on

Is the brevet insulated jacket pretty good? I might pick one up as I plan to cycle commute more often through winter.
-

Yeah. Not great for high intensity efforts but otherwise, pretty good.
I'm quite tempted by the lightweight shadow PTJ. Any one here used it?

I’ve not got experience but my shake dry is a fantastic bit of kit. If you can find one on sale by Gore or one of the other licensed makes I’d go for that.

For mild rain and wind I rate it highly, the cut is pretty good, love the double zip, very light, but if you want a heavy downpour jacket look elsewhere.

Excellent. I basically lived in mine when we were touring in Iceland. Keeps you warm if it gets cold, doesn't overheat you when it warms up, packs down to nothing.

Of course! It's a rather niche item in my view. There aren't that many times it's useful to have as it's not a proper waterproof, it's not warm, and if it's sized properly it doesn't really have space to allow for layering. However, on days where it's damp and drizzly but not too cold, it's a useful thing to have.

I'm wondering if is useful for summer audax involving night rides where temps drop a bit, esp given how packable it seems?
-

I don’t mean this to be blunt and admittedly a shake dry is a bit more but does it do any of the things better?
-
• #34572
I'd rather have a Brevet Insulated Jacket in those circumstances. The Lightweight Shadow jacket will keep the windchill off, but its thermal properties are decidedly limited.

Shadow Lightweight breathes much better than any proper waterproof fabric. It's a very tight weave, but it is still a woven fabric so is going to breath better than any waterproof fabric which uses a membrane barrier.

I'd rather the LW Shadow PTJ in a light shower than a Shake Dry. But then again I'm also not into that binbag BDSM look and will probably avoid riding in absolute shit weather. Unless I'm commuting, at which point I don't worry too much about how Pro my clothing is.
That being said it's not replacement for the proper rain jackets.

Had already bought the lightweight shadow jacket before reading this thread but hoping it’ll essentially fill the gap when it’s too warm to wear my PTJ but the weather is looking changeable and can be stuffed in a jersey pocket
Yeah, I wrote & deleted P&C when I realised it would land me in the Crap Buzzwords thread :_D
HR has a reassuring brutality. P&C is what ...chapter 5 in a how-to-fit-in manual for sociopaths?
There was an entertaining time when someone senior had clearly been given tuition in how to connect better with their team, or read it in a cruddy airport business manual. Out the blue, on Monday mornings they suddenly started ask underlings how their weekend was. Paid zero attention to the answer, so people started fucking around with the sincerity of their responses....
