  • Maybe so, the team that painted ours look to have used tape, judging by the kit in this pic.

It's amazing watching them paint the advert signs by hand though.

At least one of our maintenance guys uses masking tape when repainting sections of the cote too.

  • That Lee Valley? Cote is such a dark blue compared to ours.

Think it was the guy that Jakey Peters work/ed for, Walter that said something along the lines of using masking tape shoes you up as an amateur.

Strangely the guys that paint our advertising use masks. And make a right mess everyone they do it!

  • Manchester 2018, the Cote was redone lighter soon after.

When I saw the folks working in mcr it looked like they masking taped the borders of the background but the detail was being stencilled through using huge templates.

Is that a brand new track in Manchester?

  • One last velodrome pic. 't Kuipke in Ghent, during last year's six day event. The one where Cav crashed during his flying lap. 166m, supershort track. Feels like a mary-go-round, except that it also smells like piss and beer and it's packed with drunk people. Fun fun fun.

  • New surface, the structure it rests on wasn't replaced. It's the third surface since it was originally built.

  • Ah nice. A track with such history shouldn't be replaced imo, but a new surface every now and then is probably necessary. We were supposed to get a new surface in Amsterdam as well this year, but covid delayed that for at least another year. The track here used to be outdoor and got a roof somewhere in the late 80s or early 90s, supposedly it's still the same surface.

At 14:00min in this video, you can see the Amsterdam velodrome before they put a roof on (and at 17min you see Ahoy in Rotterdam):

  • Awesome video. Rotherham looks a new or little used surface back then.

  • Interesting hope it gets built !!!

  • Stuck my head around the gates at Anguoleme today. It last operated in 2017 and there was talk of getting it up and running again but it is a complete wreck. Sad to see.

  • Spent Thursday night in Tarbes and came across this little gem of a track. Two big curves and virtually no straight just like the Kuipke. Would love to have given it a go

  • Ooh nice! The TdF will be visiting Tarbes this year, would have been cool to finish there. They probably won't though, there's no stands...

  • A room with a view at the Tamano kerin track. Acoustics make it that you can hear every word the riders are saying on the 6th floor. There's no one else around though.

  • Wow! that's brilliant! What's the story behind your attendance?

  • I'm just a tourist on my way to Naoshima island. Luckily this hotel is very near the ferry ànd it's the cheapest one in town. Rooms are a bit small but it's clean as can get. Biggest kudos to my partner who knows me well and found this gem ❤️
Oh and we won ¥ 830 on the penultimate race. That's almost a beer!

  • So cool

  • It's a good job you can't hear what the punters are calling the riders- things get very spicy when they're on a losing streak!

  • Yes I noticed that the balcony furniture was all bolted down

  • In addition to sineu there are other velodromes in Mallorca, or were. although derelict it's still interesting to go and have a look. The one in algaida isn't too hard to find and looks fairly similar to Warsaw's design.

  • Great photos of derelict velodromes. More please

  • Holy Time Team, you can still just make it out. when I go back to France next year I'm going to do a bit of Track/Velodrome searching. I'll look to get some photos of the track at Anguoleme whic has fallen into disrepair.
