  • XC race bikes ( and DC ) are the latest trend

    https://youtu.be/2KdkTCUkPeM

  • Nah, I don't have Instagram or care about influencers and still not excited about any new road bike. Saving me a lot of money with all the disc braked aero melts.

  • The new disc brake bikes with internal cables almost look as clean as those track bikes we used to love all these years ago.

  • I'd take a external routed supersix with rim brakes over any of those. Bonus points for non MAMIL friendly geometry

  • I thought the £9k Cannondale System Six Hi-Mod was the spendiest bike in The Regent’s Park this morning until someone rocked up on a Nuun-Sigma Sports System Six with the Enve 5.6 disc wheels.

  • How has this happened

  • It's since @amey dedicated his life to XC racing

  • I’d love to test ride for a week, one of these road super bikes. Owning effectively the next rung down has been a pleasure, I’ve certainly put it through it’s fair share and it has the marks and scuffs to show for it but I also look after it.
I absolutely love riding it so I don’t really get the hate of modern carbon disc road bikes.

  • I saw somebody on a Domane with that deep red metallic paint this week, looked amazing.

  • Specialized is really going hard on their SL7 marketing, they even created an AR app to show it off.

  • Its all about down country and enduro light, which is definitely absolutely not the same thing as a trail bike!

  • It's because they all now look like BMCs with the awful dropped seat stays except Trek which actually look alright but fuck Trek.

  • They have come quite uniformal but isnt that kinda expected till another “break through”.
The sworks of late, have at least offered more if not moved away entirely from the stealth black bore fest.

  • Actually Treks now just look like original Tarmac/Allez which is funny itself

  • Thing is, if you removed the branding, there isn't really any way to distinguish between the latest crop of fast road bikes. Gravel is fast becoming that way too.
This years tarmac was actually a pretty good ride to be honest and way better than I expected trying them out, but they're all machines of function.
It's like seeing a fast car that you can't afford. Looks fast, is fast, but you can never really tap its full potential.

  • I’d probably have a cervelo if I won the lottery or became a dentist. I rate the hammerhead cockpit.
Otherwise yeah they’re all meh (modern road bikes)

    Or a 3T Strada

  • Don't worry, you will soon be able to pay an extra 2k for the super limited special edition Peter Sagan S-Works. Wheelies not included.

  • nah you follow the trends like jon 'prolly' watson tells you to and currently he is saying no to road bikes, only slack hardtails

    Glass houses my friend

  • Amey's piss taking of the Radavist is becoming almost too deeply ironic

  • 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣

  • Still no true American gravel 😞

  • Thing is, if you removed the branding, there isn't really any way to distinguish between the latest crop of fast road bikes.

Racing bikes have almost always been like that. They converge to the current pinnacle of technology and only the paint jobs vary. 60s-90s steel frames are the worst for that, strip them back and they all look the same.

  • So Specialized stopped the Venge, looks like Merida has carried it on
