  • What make is the current bar tape please?

  • All good! Still trying to get some of the grade tape you have on your moser. Any chance you could post some close ups of it here please? Would be keen to see the texture/finish

  • Purple and green graduated,
    Maybe bit OTT?

  • Moser tape -
It has an almost "waterproof" type finish which you should be able to see from the photo.

  • Mmm. Looks like its pretty smooth and not textured like the pastel stuff I have, so exactly what I'm after. Thanks you.
That purple green is way too ott haha even for my standards!

    The search continues...

  • A way to search for this tape is via Retrobike I've found. Click on the auction watch tab and you will get a search option. This seems to bring up loads of listings around Europe which don't seem to normally appear on the UK ebay search - I don't why.

  • Amazing. Thank you for this lovely bit of information. Saves me so much time!

Ps. managed to get a few rolls of the tape you used on your moser. Looks like this bike is actually very close to being "finished" :-)

  • You're welcome and glad you found some.

  • Good post day today. Fresh Ambrosio grade bar tape finally arrived which means this project is actually about to reach its final form.

  • Pics! Pics! Pics!

  • Hehe. Holding off til Monday where I can get access to a nice wall with the right angle for sun to take some photos :-)

  • Lighting was all over the place but managed the set of snaps below. Tape isn't perfect, its a few shades too light to what I wanted but for now it will do. -

Currently running the follwing parts :

  • 7/5 would bang

  • So one door closes another becomes ajar.. leading to this update -

So after a lengthy convo on TTForum I took a punt on a Cliff Shrubb 700c x 24" front lo pro, serial numbers match the other Cliff Shrubbs I have and looks to be in overall decent condition. Plan is for a repaint at some point though. The angles are crazy and riding this will def break my back! Im quite young too ha. Got the classic details and workmanship of a Cliff Shrubb built frame which I love. The bottom bracket shell has 3 holes drilled out, to save weight.

Anyways, heres some more photos -

A month later something else pops up on fleabay, according to the listing a "Riva" lo pro. Black with similar shape to the above. Took a punt and turns out its got a serial number very close to the red one, in the exact same places at the bb and fork, with 3 holes drilled in the bottom bracket shell too! I believe this is enough to say that it's also a Cliff built frame, which I think is quite lucky!!

This black lo pro must be the reds younger more aero brother, as the rear brake mount is at the chainstay bridge and the serial numbers a not that far from each other. It came from Thetford so unlikely it was Mick Ballards 700c x 700c I was shown on TTF but will try and chase the seller for some more details of the previous owners.

It's been repainted at some point and now sports Columbus Air decals and someone vandalized the frame and scrawled some horrible AeroFoil "graffiti" on it.

The seatpost that came with it is the same as the one on the red, its not a perfect fit but works. I've researched a bit about Tange/Ishiwata Aero tubing, so might be a case of actually being Columbus tubing so, researching the differences is gonna keep me busy while the weather sorts it self out.

Anyways, enough ranting and heres a small selection of photos for now. Hope you enjoy..  -

  • Both are super classy, sounds like they've gone to a good home.

  • Ooooh, this will be quite the stable when they're all done.

    Well Jell!

  • Thanks! Gonna be a slow burner but hoping to have the red one sorted by end of the year.

  • haha I think the stable will need to be culled if I can't find ways to keep them without taking more space in my room.

  • I like the touches on the black bike. If I ever cone to repaint my Aende I'll get the gear lever bosses removed for a central one like that.
    Looking forward to build pics.

  • OOh, very exciting, both frames look so good.
