I can't get my head around how many of these people seem suprised and affronted by the quarantine. Surely the possibility of this would be obvious if you're planning to go away to somewhere that has rising cases?
I mean, we're hoping to get away for a ten day mountaineering trip next week (subject to passing a covid test on Friday). We will barely see another person while there so the travel itself is the greatest risk. When deciding whether to risk a holiday or not, these are the things we decided to plan for. We would not be going if we didn't have a contingency plan for these scenarios.
a) Travel to Austria, contract Covid, quarantine in Austria according to local rules.
b) Travel to Austria, pandemic spikes, be forced to lock down in Austria.
c) Travel to Austria, pandemic spikes, UK gov make us quarantine on returnAs two youngish people (in context of Covid) with no underlying health issues, these seem to be reasonable things to plan for. Did these 600k people really just fuck off abroad with no "what ifs" crossing their mind?

It was a little amusing in Valencia on Saturday as the news broke - we were in a part of town that has a lot of tourists and you could see the news break in the bar we were in. I got asked 3 or 4 times by other Brits if it affected me.
I won't lie, given the people and media here are livid and pointing to the fact that a number of the outbreaks are likely the fault of tourists, I was smug as fuck.
Spain off the safe travel list .
14 day stay at home when you return but who is going to take notice of that.
