London to Inverness: route advice

Posted on
  • Hi everyone - a few of us are planning a charity ride next month and wondered if anyone has done this before and knows the way.

We'd like to go over the peaks, lakes and the Cairngorms. We'll be carrying all our belongings and set ourselves 8 days.

    Any advice is welcome.

    Thanks,
    RR

  • I can recommend this for the exit from London:

Leave the route at Harringworth Viaduct to head over to the Peaks.

  • if you go via Braemar be sure to stop at The Bothy Braemar, also a decent outdoors shop called Braemar Mountain Sports

Could follow the old military road up from Spittal of Glenshee, stopping at Loch Callater, with Callater Lodge Bothy; worth a stop if you are not using bnb/hotel

  • Braemar thanks yeah we will be camping

  • Harringworth Viaduct thanks much appreciated!

  • anyone got any GPX's that would come in handy here?
