I can't believe that a video I first posted on here is being used as a meme against me. But I am right aren't I?! Bikes are gopping. And I know you agree with me!

As someone who is a lot closer in age to Mr Tubeless-tyres-are-rubbish, it should be me saying stuff like that, not a youngster like you.

"Why can't it just be a bike?" Um because it's handy to know if you're planning an MTB ride in Wales you're not going to turn up on a time trial bike?
I do have to do the "which bike should I ride?" every time I leave the house.
I do like his horse/dog rant. :)
"You don't want to go bikepacking" rings true, but it's still fun. :)

I think I need your help since I'm pretty much new into Gravel/Mtb Groupsets and normally only ride ss or fixed since ages.
I just got myself a veloci cycle disko and I'm thinking about the parts or groups to use. I like the idea of the fern bikes with the old Dura Ace 7402 cranks. Square bottom brackets are cheap and everywhere. Also they look a lot better then the new Monster crankset everybody has got these days. Is there a reason not to convert the 2x DA into 1x?
Also I'm a little bit overwhelmed since you bascially just use every single group for gravel. So I thought i go GRX or Rival 1, now a friend tells me to go Force 1 (Cause its more expensive) and another one tells me just to get used XT, because its "da best". Whats your opinion, and do you have experience with other rear mechs like the burd gevenalle?

Yeah, all the reasons I wrote in this thread.

In a nutshell all the SRAM groupsets work the same just the materials are different.
I don't like the Shimano moving levers, especially off road, but it's personal preference, as is the way the brakes feel.
XT is good but won't work with brifters unless you get one of those J Tek thingies that adjusts the cable pull.

I’m running shimano 600 cranks in a 1x10 setup.
Pros?... I can get a track-like tight Q factor with the right BB (but that depends on the frame and rear tyre).
Off-road bikes get wet n dirty so being able to use a really well sealed Shimano cartridge BB counters the weight saving of hollowtech/sram for me.Downsides? ... 130bcb limits your choice on narrow-wide rings. I’m using a Wolftooth ring - no complaints.
You might need to file off tabs for the inner ring (situated on the inside of the crank spider) to run a very tight chainline. -

You can also get square taper chainsets in 110bcd. Sugino makes some, and old Mtb Shimano deore/LX chainset Are also an option.

Isn’t this named after where they’re made in Toronto?

And Spa Cycles now sell square taper 110BCD with narrow wide on it.
