  • Here goes my first Project thread.

This bike represents 6 or so years of riding track bikes and lurking on here and other sites, slowly building up an idea of what my ideal build would be. Although the majority of the parts were acquired recently, some I've had for a while, like the Phil hubs that I got off here about 3 years ago and stashed away, not really knowing what they would end up on.

A new job (and a move to Amsterdam) meant I had a bit of loose change floating around, and I started looking around for a nice steel frame, something a bit unusual, that was as nice to look at as it was to ride. I passed on a few until I saw @Scorch posting a picture of a Colnago Master Pista, and dropped him a PM gently enquiring about it. After a bit of talking, we agreed a price and the frame made it's way to me, with the headset, BB and crankset with it.

It's an incredible frame. Super light, with fancy lugs and nice engravings/details throughout. The paint scheme suggests that it was a team edition for the Dutch Rabobank Shimano team, though I can't find any other images of a similar frame anywhere, aside from on a flickr which I believe belongs to @Swijland. Scorch mentioned that the person he bought it from was based in the Netherlands, and I'm hoping that he was the previous owner and can shed some light on it (when he replies to my PM).

This kickstarted the rest of the build; I took the Phil hubs along to Meesterknecht here in Amsterdam to get them laced, went back to the UK to grab a couple of bits and sourced some more online.

Now that it's finished I'm unbelievably stoked with the result. It's ridiculously fun and ridiculously fast. Most importantly, it would probably have never come together without the existence of LFGSS, so I feel indebted to Velocio and everyone else that makes this place what it is.

    Anyway, here's some more pictures.

  • Haha, awesome! happy to be of assistance

  • Very nice build....and a lot of character to the frame

  • So awesome... Should I keep my eyes peeled here on the streets of Amsterdam or are you not taking her on the road?

  • Wow, that's awesome!

  • This is a beauty!

  • Yeah I'll be taking this on the road, say hello if you see me around!

  • Great bike, extremely unique! have fun :D

  • Rad! Love the paintjob! :)

  • Gave it some not so serious bars, and clipless pedals. Much fun.

  • so strong

  • Very nice.

  • Perfect

  • Damn.. How do they get away with that?!

  • Got the same pedals. Rock solid ones!

Nice build! Wish I could do fixed still. :(

If you want some more tightness in the pedals, put on the right cleat left and left on the right.

  • Amazing bike! Nice parts selection.

  • Did you see my PM about the frame?

  • Amsterdam! I'll be on the lookout for this one

  • Well after 4 years of probably not being ridden enough, I'm thinking of letting this go. I don't have a firm price yet but open to offers for now. It's available to view in Amsterdam centre.

  • Evening.
What’s the sizing on this please and any scope of price thought? Cheers. Tom

  • Hiya, below is the geo chart I was sent by previous owner (I haven't ever measured it myself). It's super responsive and quick, probably the nicest bike I'll ever own.

Price is maybe somewhere around €1600 / £1500 – also interested in a trade for an adventure / gravel bike in similar size.

    Cheers!

  • Don't sell it. Just keep it and save up for a gravel bike. You sell it. You will regret it

  • If I had the funds, I'd be in the first train to Amsterdam tomorrow.

  • I'd rather it be in the hands (and legs) of someone that will ride it! I had a lot of fun blasting around on it but looking for something more 'Do it all'.
