  • After some advice please genesis people! Questions will make me sound like an idiot but hopefully someone will have some ideas and saves me making a fool out of my self on the answer question answered thread.
I am £700 ish into this bike from a recent service and purchasing it off of ebay. It is/will be used for a short 5-7 mile each way all year round commute and any road riding. Love the bike.

    1. LBS when it was in for a service recommended going for tiagra 10 speed at the back (derailleur and mech) for more range. I am moving to a hilly part of the UK and hope to tour on it so that sounds like a good idea. Will the 105 mech (think it is short/medium cage but have no idea) not work with a bigger cassette?
    2. Seatpost has a very small bit of grease in to prevent seizing but has slipped and scuffed itself. Never known this happen on a bike of mine before. Could it be the clamp? Shit post? No idea.
    3. Wheel wise, I'd like to run say 700x35 and keep the bike as my one drop bar bike for commuting, longer sunday rides and eventual tours. Would there be any forum recommendations? My mate recently got some hope pro4 20five discs which he is raving about. LBS stocks hunt.

    Cheers

  • Re. seatpost slipping (aside from obvious answer that you might not have tightened it up enough) I’ve had problems in the past with seatpost clamps on thin walled steel frames where the “lip” of the clamp that stops it slipping down the seat tube is too thick compared to the diameter of the tubing and prevents it from clamping the seat tube.

For instance I found a brand-x one would always slip but tester approved BBB bsp-85 hasn’t budged.
