Bad time to be trying to sell my old 935.

That's what the activity says is a map. Looks a bit rude, wholly unintentional.
In running news, some of my club are doing a 5k time trial tonight. I am doing a four cans of beer time trial on my own at home.
I've done my 18.13 5k for the year, now I can relax until next year sometime when I fluke a fast one

So close to sub-18 though, it’d be a shame not to break that barrier.

I have done it a few times over the years, 17.56 is my best since my youngest kids turned 2.
I've been running for 12 years, so I reckon PBs are long gone. Except maybe a marathon, but sod the training.
I'm quite happy offsetting exercise and the drink, and cycling a bit more

I was joking, I’d be sinking loads of beers if I did a 18:xx 5k!

Our very large IT company has just pushed out an update to all Windows machines. It could have been a coincidence but I normally get more notice (laptop was going to reboot at 8am tomorrow morning if I hadn't restarted before then).
Is there a new 0day out there?

Unfortunately I haven't kept a record, but I would be interested to see how many beers I have drunk Vs miles run.
I'm currently averaging about 30 miles a week, I reckon I drink more than I run.
Back in the good old days it would have been more like 2-3:1 miles:beer

Maersk isn't actually a good example as that was a third party application that was the route in.
~95% of attacks come in via email, so I'd put money on that, although the puzzler is that it seems (based purely on what I've read on this thread) to have flashed through the whole network - I would have expected some network segmentation, but if the staff systems are borked at the same time as the back-end of Garmin Connect then that suggests the wheels have well and truly come off.

Large swathes of companies WFH is going to screw with any rapid response to a problem like this. There's no "popping down to IT" if IT aren't in the office at all.
A widespread effect like this means it's likely a large number of the backend systems are running Windows (e.g. Exchange, Domain Controllers, Active Directory servers, SQL Server, etc) and so ransomware that rips through anything Windows based is going to have an enormous impact.
Anyway. I just copy my runs off my 945 using the USB cable and upload to Strava that way. I can still see the data on the watch even if the app on the phone can't do anything (even sync to the watch) without phoning home to Olathe first.

Numbers to be proud of

Apparently Garmin aviation is also impacted by the hack. Pilots can't download navigation chart updates or log flight plans if their plane is fitted with Garmin avionics. Talk of the FAA grounding Garmin equipped planes.

It's my excuse for not going running. It's just too dangerous now.

Certainly not taking my jet to the start of my run, thats for sure.

24 days into this July accumulator and I'm pretty much over it. The specific amounts you have to run coupled with moving house and work are getting kinda tough at the sharp end. 86km Thur to Sun this week and then 99km Tues - Fri next week.

I can't fathom doing that. Just juggling it with life seems to me as daunting as the actual running. Bravo, epic effort.

I regret ever saying I'd do this stupid accumulator and I'm sorry for suggesting it to you. I'm having a horrible time. Extreme stomach issues. Ripped a toenail off. Sprained ankle. Absolutely miserable. Going on holiday on 1 Aug and thinking of not taking any running shoes with me.

You're definitely having a tougher time of it than me and the humidity over there would be the end of me. Can't wait to just not put on running shoes next Saturday and start drinking at 10am !

Any takers for a Garmin watch with a broken strap?
Collection from SE6 or I can stick in an envelope and send out this week.

Oof.
Was going to give somebody a new forerunner as a gift on Saturday. Might as well give them an empty box unless this is fixed before then.
