• Hello there lovely people,

Due to prolapsed disc in my back, I have sold my road bike (a lovely Serotta that was listed here a while ago). I’m only riding my gravel bike now. I’ve transformed that into a more road friendly and I sort of feel comfortable on that.
Now, when my back finally fixes itself (hopefully not long now) I’ll be looking to get a new (but probably 2nd hand) road bike with disc brakes. I’m nowhere near a lightweight cyclist, so I’ll be looking at some nice steel or titanium frame (although will listen to carbon ideas too). I used to work in the cycling industry but that was over 5 years ago and it seems like I’m no longer “up to date” with all the gear.
So, with a budget of £2k ish, what could I be looking at? Ideally, I’d like a full package rather than basic wheels that will need upgrading. I don’t need any top tier group sets - Shimano 105 works perfect for me. Would it be better to buy all the bits separate and build the bike myself (as I’ve done with the Serotta)?
    Thanks

  • Thanks. Well, I’m just poking around at the moment. And with discs, that means an thru axle, and that means modern, doesn’t it?
I’d love a nice titanium or stainless steel frame, I see a nice one on eBay but they don’t come up very often. Or I don’t look hard enough.
