I give his call up a 0% chance.
-
• #25928
I'd guess if he's fit he'll ride the tour. On top of that I'd be surprised if it's not in his contract.
-
• #25929
I’d be very, very surprised if it was. That’s not how Ineos work.
-

Why has this all been announced today? UCI rules state you can’t announce transfers for the next year until August 1st.
-
• #25931
Possibly not viewed as a transfer but as a non-renewal of an existing contract followed by the start of a new one for next season. Yes, I know that's bollocks, but it would be difficult to keep a lid on this one.

His personal announcement says that his priority is to win 5th Tour with Ineos.
Doesn’t mean he will actually be there of course.

Do you have a link?

"It has been a phenomenal decade with the Team, we have achieved so much together and I will always treasure the memories. I look forward to exciting new challenges as I move into the next phase of my career but in the meantime, my focus is on winning a fifth Tour de France with Team INEOS," Froome said.

Can't be winning a fifth Tour with Ineos if he isn't there...
However, he could still be left out of course. It will be fun watching the 'road decide' at the tour though. Don't think we've ever had the previous 3 Tour winners on the same team while all being competitive?

Maybe Froome, Thomas and Bernal are all moving to Movistar where they will be able to attack each other freely as seems to be the culture.
-
• #25937
It'll be good to see a potential GT contender at another team to help spice things up, but I'll be amazed if Froome has a meaningful shot at a 5th tour now.
Interesting prospect with Israel Start-Up Nation building a team solely around Froome. Odds on Porte being on the phone to his agent now...

Loads of GC people on the market this year I think?
Porte, both Yates, Bardet, Pinot amongst others.A lot of domestique shuffling, and Ineos planning to lock down their domestiques so that other teams don't nab them?
-
• #25939
Pinot has recently signed a three year extension with FDJ, otherwise that list is correct. Uran is out of contract at the end of the season too, if we still count him as a GC rider.
-
• #25940
I hadn't seen that he'd signed an extension, very unlikely he was going to go elsewhere anyway!
-

With the money saved they could sponsor a ladies team .
-
• #25942
Presuming you mean Ineos, they could sponsor a ladies team for what they pay for a team bus/deathstar.

This is a really great race, I knew very little about. If you like grass / cobbled classics and want something to watch on the turbo it's perfect

This is a pretty objective take on Froome's departure from Ineos;

Thoughts on the new GCN race pass compared to the lamestream media (eurosport, etc)? Don't care? Stealing it all anyway?
-
• #25946
That is just rebranded Eurosport no?
-
• #25947
Seemingly, just with an introductory 50% off.
And you also get to take part in live interactive polls ... guess the gradient?
-
• #25948
Yeah, gcn are owned by discovery group, who also own eurosport...
-
• #25949
I can only see 20% off?
-
• #25950
Does GCN have advert breaks?
Yeah big call either way
